The Gateway to University Honors course on the surface is a class designed to introduce its students to the University Honors program, relaying the requirements to participate, the opportunities available to us, and so on. Secondly, it explains the guidelines for our five honors experiences that need to be completed by graduation, and provides inspiration for what these might be for each of us. But, the course not only provides its students with the tools to succeed in the program, but also the tools to succeed in our college experience as a whole. From this course, I have learned not to dwell on my insufficiencies, but to instead capitalize on my strengths, and the strengths of others to succeed. As a very independent individual, I have always had trouble asking for help, even when it was obvious that I needed it. This course made it clear to me that in order to succeed in college, teamwork and collaboration is essential to success. Moving forward, I will no longer try to make it to the top as a lone wolf. There is strength in numbers, and already I am beginning to see that through the group experiences and projects in class.
